The School Council

The School Council is empowered by the constitution to manage the administrative and legal functions of the School.  For practical purposes, the day-to-day operation of the School is delegated to the Principal.  Some of the matters considered by Council include setting fees and charges, fee collection, fee relief, formulating short and medium term budgets, building and maintenance projects, formulating policies and practices and other governance issues.

There may be up to 6 Council members, a maximum of 3 elected parent representatives and a maximum of 3 teachers nominated by College.  The Principal and Business Manager attend all Council meetings as ex-officio members.  The names of the current parent Council members are:

  • Chairperson - Jeremiah O'Toole

  • Treasurer - Jeremiah O'Toole

  • Secretary - Adrian Hanks
  • College of Teachers Representatives

    • Merrill Badger

    • Peter Schirrmeister

    • Teera Palmer

The parent representatives bring a wealth of commercial business acumen to the School, with over 20 years of successful business experience running organisations in and around the Byron Shire.

Parent representatives are elected from School Association members at the Annual General Meeting, usually held before the end of March each year. Teacher representatives are elected by their colleagues at the commencement of each school year, their positions being ratified at the AGM.
