In Class 8 we structure much of our curriculum content around the impulse we call "the new world". Students at this age are leaving the 'old world' of their core physical and emotional development and emerging into the new world of objective rational thought. It's a transitional phase and because this capacity is relatively new, the students are set tasks, which ask them to: Explore Navigate, Uncover, Imagine …. They study: 'new' and 'different' societies, biographies of inventors, people who forged 'new' paths. In Personal Development the teachers work with the social and emotional tools required for navigating this new and very challenging phase of puberty. It's not only minds which are developing now, but bodies too.
