WINTER FESTIVAL

There is something very special about the deep midwinter. It is a time for gathering together, a time for reflection. Physically it is a time when humans may be at their most vulnerable and rely on the warmth of shelter and the support of family and friends.
In the Steiner School life, midwinter is celebrated for its deeper lessons. For the younger children, the cold and darkness is made joyful with hot soup, the fun of friends and the comfort of candle light and soft lanterns to cheer the way.
For adults in the snuggling into overcoats and drawing into oneself, there is space for reflection on community and our relationships. It is a time to value our dependence and review the ways in which we can give back support to our own community and the world. As the wise old saying says "for neither giving impoverishes, nor with-holding enriches".
