THE PHILOSOPHY OF RUDOLF STEINER
Rudolf Steiner's educational philosophy springs out of the spiritual science he named Anthroposophy that offers new insights into the nature of man (anthropos), the earth and the universe, and new pathways of self awareness and self consciousness. It forms the philosophical foundation stone of the Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner School and is the base upon which our educational, administrative and social commuity continues to grow.
Our School, one of a world-wide network of fully independent Steiner Schools, encourages creativity and free thinking. It recognises the individuality of each child and the unique gifts each has. Rather than moulding the child into a form preconceived by society and its particular needs, the school nurtures, protects and develops the intelligence of the true child in order to bring out their individuality.
To achieve this the School has created a nurturing educational environment that acknowledges the sanctity of childhood and its specific developmental phases, and provides a creative and balanced learning program in which the academic, artistic and social aspects of the curriculum are wholly integrated for the needs of the developing child.
Our hope is that when they leave this school, each student will be able to step into the world ready to make a contribution that is uniquely theirs; they will be able to step out confidently with a sense of purpose and direction which springs from their own initiative and awareness of their own inner spiritual qualities.
"Receive the child in reverence, Educate him in love, Let him go forth in freedom" - Rudolf Steiner
